Berlin, 11th november 2021
The night of the 11 of November an attack on the new-built Gorillas warehouse in the Schlachthofviertel north of Friedrichshain took place. The glass windows and doors got smashed and a slogan in solidarity with the riders was written: strike back!
We chose this type of action to express our solidarity with the struggle of the riders who have been fired or work under precarious conditions.
Berlin is facing a general attack. Construction sites for luxury buildings, privatization of public spaces, evictions, high rents, racist police and start-ups are dominating the character of the city. Yuppies, rich tourists and bourgoies are taking over the city more and more, treating and consuming it as a commodity. Needs that are based on fast consumption and extraordinary serices are artificially designed by companies like Gorillas in order to create new possibilities to make profit.
Gorillas and Amazon for example formed their own species of customers: the new human with the need to buy products that are delivered within 10 (!) minutes. The therefore exploited workers, most of which have migrant backgrounds don’t even receive the necessary equipment. Unpaid salaries, time-pressure, extremly big and heavy orders, permanent control and GPS-tracking are composing the shifts of Gorillas riders. But the riders stiked back with self-organisation and solidarity. They chose to fight against the profits of their bosses and for their own health and existence and therefore to get organized and to strike. That’s why now they have to face additionally to the blackmailing of the company also the repression of their struggle.
On November the 16th at 17:00 (Muskauerstr. 48 in Kreuzberg) they call for a demonstration of solidarity with their fight!
We support their call and we show our solidarity with direct action!
